President Ronald Reagan defeated the Soviet Union in the Cold War. And the Soviet Union’s collapse in 1991 proves that Communism doesn’t work. The United States of America is a constitutional republic, the best form of government on earth. Here, President Reagan explains how it works:
“Ours was the first revolution in the history of mankind that truly reversed the course of government, and with three little words: ‘We the People.’ ‘We the People’ tell the government what to do; it doesn’t tell us. ‘We the People’ are the driver; the government is the car. And we decide where it should go, and by what route, and how fast.
“Almost all the world’s constitutions are documents in which governments tell the people what their privileges are. Our Constitution is a document in which ‘We the People’ tell the government what it is allowed to do. ‘We the People’ are free.”
The American experiment in government is still working, after two hundred and fifty years. And We The People are still in power, because Thomas Jefferson was right when he said,
“Wherever the people are well informed they can be trusted with their own government; that whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them to rights.”
“I am persuaded myself that the good sense of the people will always be found to be the best army. they may be led astray for a moment, but will soon correct themselves.“
The American Revolution has never ended. It’s still going on in the hearts and minds of the American people. And we will never surrender our liberty and freedom.
